Quality
Certified Welding Inspector
Qualify the welders, inspect to the WPS, and hold the weld before it is covered or coated. The schedule does not accept a bad weld.
The Work
- Qualify welders and confirm the work is done to the WPS.
- Inspect fit-up and completed welds before close-in, blast, or coating.
- Write the nonconformance when a weld is not acceptable.
- Work inside the QMS, including with the third-party inspector at the hold point.
- Reject work a supervisor would rather keep.
You Have Done This
- You hold a current Certified Welding Inspector credential.
- You have inspected structural or modular fabrication.
- You have rejected welds under schedule pressure.
- You know which welds have to be seen before they disappear under a coating or a panel.
